–Congratulations to Russell Hedberg, new Ph.D, Professor, and University Sustainability Coordinator!

Russ successfully defended his dissertation in May of 2018. His doctoral research examined the multiscalar social-ecological aspects of phosphorus management and cycling on local-food-oriented farms in the Northeastern United States. Recently, Russ has taken a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Geography-Earth Science at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania’s Cumberland Valley. At Shippensburg Russ will be appointed in the Geography Department and will serve as a principal faculty member in the University’s new undergraduate major in Sustainability, and as the University Sustainability Coordinator – a newly created position. Russ has worked in the GeoSyntheSES lab since 2011 and is looking forward to continuing to collaborate with with GeoSyntheSES colleagues in this next, exciting chapter of his career.
