Penn State Environment & Society geographers, including members of the GeosyntheSES Lab, hosted the 2018 Nature-Society Workshop, “Engaging the Intersections of Nature-Society Geography” on September 21-22, 2018. The informal workshop began in 2010 as a space to discuss innovative scholarship in nature-society geography and strengthen ties between Northeastern geography departments including Clark, Syracuse, Rutgers, Cornell, Temple, and West Virginia. The Nature-Society Workshop included three panel sessions on land and resource geographies, more-than-human governance, and decolonizing nature-society geography; a field trip through central Pennsylvania; and a keynote address by Dr. Trevor Birkenholtz of UIUC, which was recorded (link to webcast recording).
