– Karl and Luis Rojas Publish New Research Article on Spatial Interactions, Field Clustering, and Sustainability/Conservation Benefits in Regional Environmental Change (2016)

Karl and GeoSyntheSES collaborator Luís Rojas based in Cochabamba, Bolivia, have recently published their new article on “Fine-grain spatial patterning and dynamics of land use and agrobiodiversity amid global changes in the Bolivian Andes” in the journal Regional Environmental Change (pages 1-16). The article integrates their use of the geospatial analysis of the clustering of fields of unique high-agrobiodiversity Andean maize using join-count statistical models with the analysis of farmer spatial interactions using the original model of spatial externalities that they develop. It is designed to enable new conservation and sustainability policy and practical approaches. More at https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Karl_Zimmerer/publications. The GeoSyntheSES lab is excited about further developing and applying this methodology.
